#ketogenic #diet works when #DASH diet doesn't #cure #hypertension

10.9: news.med/hypertension/
ketogenic diet works when DASH diet doesn't:
Dr. Steve Phinney`beyond DASH diet:
. a ketogenic low-carb diet cured his hypertension
that was not responding to a DASH diet*
-- he was overweight too (indicating he was
too carb'intolerant for a DASH diet).

MAO-A inhibitors in tribulus

7.30: news.wealth/tribulus/
"reversible" Monoamine Oxidase A inhibitor:
. related to dopamine?
Tribulus extracts may contain "reversible"
inhibitors of Monoamine Oxidase A .
forum.lef.org/
www.springerlink.com/
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/

MAO-A can selectively metabolize
adrenaline, noradrenaline, serotonin,
and dopamine to inactive compounds.
Tribulus contains Harmine,
a short-acting, "reversible" MAOI-A inhibitor
The inhibition of MAO-A prevents the degradation of
adrenaline, noradrenaline, serotonin, and dopamine
and the result can be increased mood,
alleviation of depression  and more energy.
High dopamine levels can stimulate the pituitary gland
to release lutenizing hormone (LH)
which leads to an increase in testosterone levels
and thus elevating libido, another mood enhancer.
Harmine is "reversible" because it
does not bind permanently to MAO-A,
thus is not as contraindicated with
tyramine-containing foods (cheese, red wine, etc)
as irreversible MAOI's,
nor does harmine raise levels of tyramine per se
since it allows tyramine to be metabolized.
The short-acting and non-permanency
of it's binding capabilities means that
the anti-depressive effects of harmine
usually cease 24-48 hours after stopping therapy.
. with a half-life of 2.5 hours,
several doses are necessary;
eg 3 * 750 ... 1,500 mg
of standardized 45% steroidal sapponins.
. lef member suggests tribestan .

recovering from brain atrophy

5.14: co.lef.org/med/apm/recovering from brain atrophy:
G Satyanarayanan
Can cognitive problems caused by
antipsychotic like risperidone
(ADHD, slow processing speed, low working memory)
and lithium(dyslexia, restlessness,
immediate and long term memory loss)
be reversed?
I was taking these medications for 4 years.
Now I 've stopped them
still now side-effects of those drugs not gone
so that I can say I have become normal
wrt those cognitive parameters.
Is cognitive problems caused by antipsychotic
like risperidone and lithium reversible?
What duration of such medications
beyond which such side effects
are not reversible- 2/4/6 years?
Ad: "Stainless Steel Meat Hammer"
me:
. Satyanarayanan asks about brain repair
after being on long-term anti-psychotics .
. these medications work by inhibiting dopamine function,
and atrophying the brain cells that make dopamine .
. the key is to find dopamine enhancers,
and anything that "(exacerbates schizophrenia)
and then anything that promotes neurite growth .
. I'm combining mct, blueberry extract,
and LE fishoil with DMAE for neurite growth .
. yohimbine extract promotes dopamine use,
and L-dopa (Mucuna Pruriens extract)
promotes dopamine production .
. you may have a lot of research ahead of you:
beware high blood pressure, etc .
. if I think of anything else for attention deficit,
I'll be putting them on my
performance enhancers list .

best sources of chloride #hypertension

12.1.17: web.health/hypertension/best sources of chloride:

summary:
. trying to find a source of chloride
I couldn't find one specifically vegetarian
(and thereby avoiding sodium chloride)
but the best source of chloride or other buffers
(for the preferred alkaline diet)
will coincide with sources of potassium;
so, what were the best sources of
high potassium and low sodium ?
. all fruits & veg' are low in sodium
except seaweed, but some high-sodium seaweeds
are still low in sodium chloride,
(this should concern you only if your
grossly high-carb diet is messing up your kidneys ).
. the highest sources of potassium, by far,
are the beans, -- go legumes! --
followed by nuts, yam, avocado, mushrooms
(500 ... 1000 mg per 100 g of food)
. high-carb sources of buffer include
oats, quinoa, buckwheat, wild rice .
. surprisingly,
while green density is a sign of magnesium,
greens aren't always the best sources of potassium
(Spinach has 558mg but collards an kale much less so)
. the same with many great sources of
anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatories
(often just 100 ... 200 mg of buffer per 100 g food ).

#hypertension is from #sugar not #salt #health

2011.{11..12}.1: health/hypertension
2012: summary:
. hypertension is not caused by excessive salt;
but rather by a high-glycemic diet
that provokes too much insulin
which is then disabling the kidneys
by preventing them from removing salt .
. another factor is arterial tension
that is controlled by magnesium .
. here again, insulin abuse is the culprit,
causing magnesium resistance,
requiring higher doses to the same job .
. high amounts of dietary fructose
can be another source of high blood pressure .
. some salty seaweed seems to have
little effect on pressure;
that's because the pressure problem comes only from
the kidney's inability to clear sodium chloride;
whereas some seaweed has no chloride:
its sodium comes in the form bound to proteins .
. Wrack seaweed is a great source of minerals
and is safe for those with high blood pressure .
. conversely,
higher levels of dietary fructose from added sugars
are responsible for not only high blood pressure,
but an epidemic of kidney disease .
