eye wear prescription data at home

2023.4.7: update: 19.12.8: aq.med/eyes/
generate eyewear prescription data at home
. one cool thing about at-home testing
of the eye's need for prescription lenses,
is knowing that there are eye wear providers
that accept your eye wear data
without proof that you have a prescription.
. this is valuable to me because
I have not felt comfortable with
the script that my eye doctor wrote:
the distance vision adjustment was
too strong, and the near vision was good for a foot away
when I would like to see what is in my lap.
. my first response was to wear various reading glasses
over my distance vision glasses;
but what I would prefer to do is
just order bifocals with my
preferred prescription strengths.
. I would still see an eye doctor to check for
diseases, such as glaucoma and AMD.

conquering imac brightness

8.6: proj.cyb`gear/mac`shades/
combined shade&blue-blocker/test:

. make new imac glasses with orange uv shades
taped to sunglasses
-- depressing in room but just right for mac .

8.7: proj.cyb`gear/mac`shades/
string to raise nose bridge:

. add bridge to mac shades to get more ventilation
and reduce fog .

8.10: proj.cyb`gear/mac`shades:
. tape isn't holding up? get help by
tucking the lenses under the nose bridge string .

8.18: proj.cyb`gear/mac`shades/
drill holes for holding shades on shades:
. use the aluminum wire
in the smallest holes my drill will give .
. like a staple but twisted once too .

glasses

4.18: pos.gear/glasses/compounding scripts with readers:
. instead of diff scripts for mac
use both current and very weak 2nd pair
so can try new one without removing the other
sfm has these now (go today!)
[10.1.4: obs:
. later I did get some at sfm,
but I took the readers off of the scripts,
so that I could avoid wearing so many glasses at the same time .
. at sfm I could then try the readers
that would be specific to the distance needed for the mac .
]
4.28: proj.gear/glasses/nylon binding:
. need to find an optimal location
and then make sure the binding is
tight for that diameter of arm .
(it narrows as it approaches the ar) .
. I tried just doing a 2nd winding over my first try,
but tried a method that didn't work like the first:
doing a series of square knots;
the first -- and final --
was to hold the parts together
while doing many windings,
each time pulling all them tight,
winding for 5mm along the parts,
then back again,
and locking this in place
with a few square knots held in place with
a melting burn(it's nylon thread) .
. the glasses are as far from my face as possible
while still being able to
wear my hat with the built-in safety shields .

PixelOptics, based in Roanoke, Va., is pursuing an electro-optical approach,
which will use a technology that is similar to an LCD display
to change the refractive index of a transparent component
that the company will embed in conventional lenses.
In principle, that will make the technology accessible to many frames and fashions.
The goal is a system that will automatically determine focus
by using an accelerometer, a sensor that measures changes in motion,
said Ronald Bloom, the company founder.
It would need recharging every two or three days.
The company has not given out details or pricing of its technology,
but has said that it is in user trials.
11.18: proj.gear/glasses/inventory:
newest:
. the newest readers were good for laptop use .
+2.00 pair:
. the pair I got with art taking me to store for b'day,
are the only ones showing script: +2.00,
. little bit close, but will do;

proj.gear/glasses/fix readers by redrilling a hole:
. fix readers with broken lens by redrilling a new hole into lens,
so the screw-in frames have another point to screw into .

11.19: proj.gear/glasses/convert new readers to clip-on's:
. get nose pads converted to hooks .
