the age of reason

 4.24: relig/christian/the age of reason

. intuition is when you believe something

without any physical evidence of it being true;

rather, the only reason for believing it

is trust that the spirits will be truthful.

. Christians know there are 2 spirits:
the god, God, who tells us the truth
and the devil, The Great Deceiver,
who may seem to be God but tells us lies.

. a prophet is someone whose intuitive thoughts
come from the truthful God,
while the fooled believe they are guided by God,
but they are really lied to by the devil.

. the bible tells us that even a prophet
can be fooled by the very clever devil:
. when Jesus realized he was not just a prophet
but could also be fooled by the devil
he angrily killed a fig tree
with the intention that it never feed others
if it wouldn't feed Jesus right now.

. an example of Jesus being a prophet
is given by the story of
the woman at the well [John 4:4-42]
. Jesus intuition tells of her secrets
and she agrees Jesus is a prophet.

John 4:
16 Jesus said to her, Go, get your husband
and come back here with him.
17 In answer, the woman said,
I have no husband.
Jesus said to her,
You have said truthfully, I have no husband:
18 You have had five husbands,
and the man you now bed with
is not your husband!
19 The woman said to him,
Sir, I see that you are a prophet.

. but jesus was also told by intuition
that a fig tree would have some fruit
even though it was out of season
and when that turned out to be false,
Jesus became angry that he had been fooled by the devil
or that he could not tell the difference between
the truthful God and the deluding devil;
and, he expressed his anger by cursing the fig tree,
commanding that it give no fruit to anyone again,
which caused it to die.
[Mark 11:12-25, Matthew 21:18-22]
. when comparing the 2 versions of this story
it should be noted that Matthew was seen as
editing what Mark wrote to fit an evolving christian narrative.]

Mark 11:
12 when they had come out from Bethany[Beit-Anyah],
Jesus was in need of food.
13 And seeing a fig-tree in the distance with leaves,
he went to see if by chance it had anything on it:
and when he came to it, he saw nothing but leaves,
for it was not the time for the fruit.
14 And Jesus said to the tree:
Let no man take fruit from you for ever.
And his disciples took note of his words.
15..18:
. then Jesus became violent at the Temple,
saying: Is it not in the Writings[Tanakh],
[Isaiah 56:1-9, Jeremiah 7:1-11]
"My house is to be named a house of prayer for all the nations?"
but you have made it a hide-out of brazen highway robbers!"
. the chief priests and scribes were not sure how to kill Jesus;
because they feared a reaction by all the people who were
full of wonder at his teaching.
[ and his many healing miracles were proof he was good;
the curse of a tree was his first use of magic for evil.]

19 When evening came, they left the city.
20 And when they were going by in the morning,
they saw the fig-tree dead from the roots.
21 And Peter[Kefa], having a memory of it, said to him,
Rabbi![Master], see, the tree which was cursed by you
is dead.

22 And Jesus, answering, said to them, Have God's faith.
23 Truly I say to you, Whoever says to this mountain,
Be taken up and be put into the sea;
and has no doubt in his heart,
but has faith that what he says will come about,
he will have his desire.
24 For this reason I say to you,
Whatever you make a request for in prayer,
have faith that it has been given to you,
and you will have it.
25 And whenever you make a prayer,
let there be forgiveness in your hearts,
if you have anything against anyone;
so that you may have forgiveness for your sins
from your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 21:
18 Now in the morning
when Jesus was coming back to the town,
he had a desire for food.
19 And seeing a fig-tree by the wayside, he came to it,
and saw nothing on it but leaves only;
and he said to it,
Let there be no fruit from you from this time forward for ever.
And straight away the fig-tree became dry and dead.
20 And when the disciples saw it they were surprised,
saying, How did the fig-tree become dry
in so short a time?
21 And Jesus in answer said to them,
Truly I say to you, If you have faith, without doubting,
not only may you do what has been done to the fig-tree,
but even if you say to this mountain,
Be taken up and put into the sea,
it will be done.
22 And all things, whatever you make request for in prayer,
having faith, you will get.

Isaiah 56:1-9
1 The Lord says, ..
7 I will make foreigners come to my holy mountain,
and will give them joy in my house of prayer;
I will take pleasure in the burned offerings
which they make on my altar:
for my house will be named
a house of prayer for all peoples.
8 The Lord God, who
gets together the wandering ones of Israel,
says, I will get together others
in addition to those of Israel
who have come back.
9 All you carnivores in the wilderness,
come together for your meat,
even all you beasts of the woods.

Jeremiah 7:1-11
1 The word which came to Jeremiah[Yirmeyahu]
from the Lord[god of Israel], saying,
9 Will you take the goods of others, put men to death,
and be untrue to your wives, and take false oaths,
and have perfumes burned to [a different god] Ba'al
and go after other gods which are strange to you;
10 And come and take your place before me in this house,
which is named by my name, and say,
We have been made safe;
so that you may do all these disgusting things?
11 Has this house, which is named by my name,
become to you a hide-out of brazen and violent highway robbers?
Truly I, even I, have seen it, says the Lord.
