2022.7.2: web.gear/bike/flat-free tires:
. solid tires are slower with
a much higher resistance to rolling
because they don't conform to bumps,
but I have felt such a sense of security
knowing that my commute to work
will not be slowed by a flat repair,
which can get messy and complicated,
not sure to succeed.
I've gotten a lot of mileage out of amerityre
https://amerityre.com/our-flat-free-products/flat-free-bicycle-tires/
but they have made some design changes
since the tires I've tried.
. a folding bike I'm considering
comes with:
Muffin® Airless tires installed/$149
http://www.citizenbike.com/catalog.asp?product_category_id=1&product_id=1
. another great choice is Tannus.
"Airless Muffin has gazillions of air cells"
more air than usual:
"almost half the weight of traditional
solid tires."
Muffins might be too soft in a desert?:
"The Muffin brand tires are quite hard when new.
They soften up a little after some miles.
The highest temperatures my bike has seen
would be less than 90F.
They also tend to be at their softest in warm weather,
so you get the best ride then.
The coldest I've ridden with these tires is -8F.
The tires get a little stiffer but not too bad."
