Trump mentioned DAPA destroyed by courts to say DACA stays:
motherjones`Reuters:
Obama's DAPA (Deferred Action for Parents of
Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents)
gave "backdoor amnesty" (said Republicans)
to perhaps as many 4 million people
who have resided illegally in usa
for a long time -- at least since 2010,
have no criminal record
and have children who are U.S. citizens
(because the child was born in the usa
despite their parents not being legal residents)
or whose children have a green card
--"permanent resident aliens".
. DAPA would have shielded them from deportation
and supplied work permits,
but was considered unconstitutional
by federal appeals court; because,
the president was infringing upon
the authority of Congress.
. the U.S. Supreme Court was divided
so they couldn't overturn it.

. the Trump admin's Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly
-- on the 5th anniversary of DACA --
"signed a memorandum rescinding the
November 20, 2014 memorandum that created
the program known as [DAPA]
because there is no credible path forward
to litigate the currently enjoined policy."
"The June 15, 2012 memorandum that created the
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program
will remain in effect.

Trump 2016`illegal immigrants:
"We will immediately terminate
President Obama’s two illegal executive amnesties,
[DACA, DAPA] in which he defied
federal law and the constitution
to give amnesty to approximately
5 million illegal immigrants."

Trump 2017.1`Dreamers:
[concerning (juvenile illegal immigrants):]
"They shouldn't be very worried.
They are here illegally.
They shouldn't be very worried.
I do have a big heart.
We're going to take care of everybody.
We're going to have a very strong border.
We're gonna have a very solid border.
Where you have great people that are here
that have done a good job,
they should be far less worried.
...
But I will tell you, we're looking at this,
the whole immigration situation,
we're looking at it with great heart.
Now we have criminals that are here.
We have really bad people that are here.
Those people have to be worried 'cause they're getting out.
We're gonna get them out.
We're gonna get 'em out fast."

DACA is still here:
Without DACA, nearly 650,000 young people
working lawfully under the program
eventually will lose work authorization
and be driven out of the workforce.
In every state, young people with DACA
are now able to obtain driver’s licenses,
but only a small number of states grant licenses
to unauthorized immigrants without DACA.
