reversing gum disease

6.13: summary:
. in 2013 I was starting to get a chronic gum infection;
and, for the past few months I've gotten fair results
from twice-weekly flossing, and daily listerine soaks .
. after the listerine I often use 1/4 capsule of
Garden of Life`Raw Probiotics (local fridge).
. when not soaking in listerine, I'm often soaking in
xylitol, green tea extract, and  Ultimate Ascorbate C.
. after meals I soak in Carnitine, arginine,
and ALA (alpha lipoic acid).
. you may get better results from
having any scale removed from roots,
and not leaving other dead things in your mouth
as is the case with root canal jobs .

1.20: news.med/reversing gum disease:
. looking through iherb.com`reviews;
user#alloriginal offers this story:
With serious gum disease and several cavities,
I believe the following routine saved my teeth.
several cavities the dentist was expecting to fill
were no longer there.
Moreover, the gum disease that had threatened
was mysteriously cured.
. after a thorough teeth cleaning by the dentist
[to remove under-gum scale where germs hide,
and allow gum pockets to rebond to tooth ],
Each morning
brush with a peroxide-containing toothpaste (Mentadent).
[ Dr.Ellie says brush with alkalinizing Closys ]
floss with dental floss treated with tea tree
(Desert Essence, Tea Tree Oil Dental Floss
[saturated with antiseptic Tea Tree Oil.]
[ Now Foods, Tea Tree Oil, 1 fl oz/$6.80 ]
mouth rinse using one ounce of hot water,
into which I've mixed a teaspoon of [antibacterial]
(FutureBiotics, Colloidal Silver 4oz /$16),
I swish the mixture around my mouth for 30 seconds
[ you can swallow Colloidal Silver;
he's telling you about natural products,
but Dr.Ellie uses listerine for killing germs .]
At this point, I've killed as many bad germs as I can.
I follow this with one tablespoon of [a probiotic]
(American Health, Probiotic Acidophilus, )
mixed in one ounce of tepid water.
I swish that around for 30 seconds [and swallow] .
During the day, a couple of xylitol mints
It leaves my mouth feeling clean.
[ xylitol actually reverses cavities:
it feeds enamel while killing germs .]
In the evening
repeat the brushing and flossing,
but follow it with a different regimen,
designed to reduce inflammation
and remineralize the teeth:
in 2 ounces of warm water I mix [3 things...]
#
a half-teaspoon of colloidal minerals
(Trace Minerals Research, ConcenTrace)
[1/2 teaspoon equals the mineral content of
1/2 cup sea water with 99% sodium removed.]),
#
a quarter teaspoon of ascorbate
(Source Naturals, Ultimate Ascorbate C)
--[ ascorbates of magnesium, potassium, calcium,
zinc & manganese;
some complain this is not fully reacted,
but the author is mixing it with more minerals ]--
#
and a quarter teaspoon of MSM
(Doctor's Best, Best MSM Powder, 250 g).
[ Source Naturals has no negative reviews;
Now Foods negative reviews are trivial .
. even if MSM is not absorbed much by gums,
it is a general anti-inflammatory
and may reduce gum inflammation systemically
if you swallow this after soaking mouth with it .]
I swish it around for 60 seconds or so,
making sure it reaches every corner of my mouth.
[ 1.23: Dr.Ellie says to remineralize with ACT fluoride
but fluoride is very controversial,
and the author's method of mineralization
seems to also work at reversing cavities
(when used with xylitol).]
1.23:  the active ingredients of ACT are:
Calcium Disodium EDTA, [provides calcium]
Cetyl Pyridinium Chloride,
[ antiseptic preventing dental plaque and reducing gingivitis ]
Disodium Phosphate,
[adjusts pH and provides phosphorus]
Methyl Salicylate,
[antiseptic and reduces gum inflammation]
Potassium Sorbate,
[inhibits mold and provides potassium]
Sodium Fluoride [provides problems:
fluoride does reverse cavitiesbut xylitol can do that too  ].
1.23: xylitol is not a sugar substitute:
. beware using a lot of xylitol as a sweetener:
its metabolism can lead to fructose metabolites
that can be problematic in large doses .
. xylitol becomes D-xylulose-5-phosphate
which is an intermediate of the pentose phosphate pathway
producing glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate
and either sedoheptulose 7-phosphate
or fructose 6-phosphate
depending on what it's combining with .
. large doses of xylitol also cause diarrhea,
perhaps because it's an antibiotic,
but most likely due to osmolality maintenance .
